The New York Times recently reported on China leaning on women to have more kids, in the middle of the climate crisis, with no way to assure they will thrive in the future. The reporting does not cover how the United States does the same, through media – including the New York Times – and things like the child tax credit system.
How can we change this? Getting the resources needed to give all kids an ecosocial Fair Start in life is the first human right. The lead editor at the Times can be approached in person to admit the Times reporting had undercut this right by – like China – urging women to have kids with no assurances of a fair start in life.
He can now publicly change course.
